Established in 1976 under the name of Central Va. Indoor Tennis by the late John Mayo,  the facility was the first to offer indoor hard court tennis to the Lynchburg community.  The name was changed in 1984, then purchased by its current owners in 2000. Over the last 24 years, the club has expanded adding outdoor clay court tennis, racquetball courts, a fitness center and pro shop.

The Sports Racket is a place where families can relax, play, meet interesting new people, and participate in creative and stimulating programs. So whether enjoying a tennis lesson from one of our certified tennis professionals, a workout in the fitness center on the Nautilus circuit training system , a competitive game of racquetball or a pampering massage, you will feel you are home by the warm atmosphere.  You can relax in our comfortable lobby with large screen tv and inviting seating, while viewing some of the most interesting tennis matches around.

 Being the only indoor tennis facility in the area open to the public, The Sports Racket offers a variety of tennis programming-lessons, tournaments, member socials, league play, and many junior programs. We offer same day racquet stringing, fully stocked Pro Shop, and clean locker rooms.  We invite you to join us today and begin experiencing an amazing sport that one can play at any age!
